Jeff Thein


Jeff is a Director at Stanton Chase International Executive Search, a leading global retained search firm specializing in making a difference in the lives of highly qualified leaders seeking new career opportunities. Based in Los Angeles and Moscow, his focus is the Western US region and the Russian Federation, servicing industries including film and entertainment, technology, renewable energy, oil & gas, transportation and financial services.

Previously Jeff was Vice President of Global Partnership Marketing at IBM, which recently acquired The Weather Company, parent company of The Weather Channel. There he helped transform Weather into a digital media and data leader, developing partnerships with advertisers, local and global media companies, government agencies, technology manufacturers and automotive brands.

Jeff came to The Weather Channel from NBC Universal, where he ran the weather startup NBC Weather Plus, launching and managing the first all-digital broadcast television network. He has held leadership positions in top local newsrooms across the country, including WTVJ-TV and WFOR-TV in Miami-Fort Lauderdale and WCCO-TV in Minneapolis. He’s reported and produced in past roles at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri and KVUE-TV in Austin, Texas, where he was fortunate to have worked with Carole Kneeland.

Outside of media, Jeff volunteered for the non-governmental organization Freedom House, assisting the development efforts of the Glasnost Defense Foundation, a Russian human rights organization that advocates press freedom and assists the families of journalists killed in action covering wars and conflicts. He also served in the ABC News and NBC News Moscow Bureaus. Jeff graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, has degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Russian Area Studies, and attended Harvard Business School’s Executive Education program.
