Newsroom Leadership Conference (NLC)

Newsroom Leadership Conference (NLC) is an invaluable, unique, and rigorous three-day seminar for news directors. Eighteen news managers are instructed in the process of making ethical decisions, exercising sound judgment, managing change, and streamlining newsroom systems to create a more efficient news gathering operation.

Recent seminars focused on advanced media issues challenging every newsroom in America. Journalists studied new technology, learned ways to juggle traditional and non-traditional media, and walked away with action plans and practical information that they can begin applying in their newsrooms immediately.

Fellows have stayed in touch via social media and conference calls that have facilitated on-going learning and professional development. Thanks to our generous funders, The Kneeland Project covered the hotel, tuition, and most meal expenses for selected news directors, while stations provided travel expenses.
