SAM ROSENWASSER

Sam Rosenwasser retired from WEWS-TV, the Scripps-owned ABC affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio at the end of 2014, after serving as vice president & general manger for four years. He had been president and general manager of WTSP in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida since August 2001. In June 1999 he was appointed president and general manager of KXTV, Gannett's ABC affiliate in Sacramento, California. Previously he was president and general manager of Gannett's KVUE-TV, the ABC affiliate, in Austin, Texas. Carole Kneeland was his news director at KVUE.

Prior to KVUE, Sam was local sales manager of KXAN-TV in Austin, beginning in February 1989. His previous experience includes television sales account executive at WFAA-TV (1985-1989) and KDFW-TV (1983-1985), both in Dallas. He also held various positions in WFAA's news department (1973-1976). Sam has served as chairman of the board for the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Sacramento. While in Austin, he served on the board of directors of American Women in Radio and Television, was on executive board of the Austin chapter of Crime Stoppers, and was on the board of directors of Junior Achievement for Central Texas.

His industry accomplishments include being selected Gannett (now Tegna) Manager of the Year in 2007, was a finalist for that award in 2004, Dallas Television Salesperson of the Year in both 1985 and 1987 by American Women in Radio and Television and was nominated as American Women in Radio and Television's Radio Sales Manager of the Year in 1983. He was nominated by the Austin Advertising Federation as Television Manager of the Year in 1999. Born in El Paso, Texas, Sam earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio/Television/Film at North Texas State University (now The University of North Texas) in Denton, Texas. Sam and his family live in the Dallas area.
