Carole Kent Kneeland is remembered for many reasons by many people. Perhaps, most, however, she is recalled for the soundbites that she used, over and over, to convey her management philosophy and views on the highest and best use of television news media. Those words still permeate the training today provided by The Kneeland Project.

Some of those now famous quotes include:

  • "It's never the wrong time to do the right thing."
  • "Fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way."
  • "Seek out opinions in places that many don't go."
  • "Our job [as news directors] is to give people information, and inspiration to do the right thing."
  • "The person you work WITH today could be the person you work FOR tomorrow."
  • "Establish a culture in which information and ideas come from the ground up."
  • "Praise in public, criticize in private."
  • "Look for new risks to take."
  • As Linda Ellerbee said, "Carole Kneeland would have made a helluva 50-year-old. And so it goes...."
